I am Mark 750AT
Mark’s gospel drama retold in Norfolk churches

I AM MARK is a one-man presentation of Mark’s gospel by Stefan Smart, and will be performed in three Norfolk churches this year as part of a nation-wide tour.

In this dynamic new, word-for-word, solo performance, directed by Lisa Gilmour, Stefan Smart brings the story to life as it was originally narrated. Action-packed with no less than 19 miracles, the book of Mark was written to be shared live with first century audiences, in one sitting, and was aimed at those outside the Jewish faith.

Stefan says, “Years ago I had a big dream, a dream which is actually coming true…I imagined taking one of the greatest stories ever told, the Gospel of Mark, and performing it as it was originally intended – live and in one sitting. I AM MARK is the resulting solo performance. I’ve already had the privilege to take it to Speakers’ Corners all over the UK, to a whole range of churches, cathedrals, conferences and schools here and abroad, as well as into prisons. I AM MARK has sold out to venues at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, and now it is even available on global TV station CMAX. All this seems rather surreal given that it’s just me performing with one chair as a prop.”

I AM MARK will be coming to The Salvation Army, Norwich Citadel, St. Giles Street, at 6pm on Sunday 9 July. There will be no charge but there will be a retiring collection.

On the previous evening, at 7pm, Stefan will present I AM MARK at Saxlingham Nethergate Chapel.

Later in the year, Stefan will bring the performance to Lighthouse Community Church in Sheringham, on Sunday 29 October. Booking details to follow.
