Norfolk pregnancy crisis charity marks decade

PCNLeaninggirl2009: Pregnancy Crisis Norfolk is marking its tenth anniversary on October 22 with a celebration event addressed by Careconfidential director Dr Phil Clarke.

The Norwich-based Christian charity has been involved in pregnancy crisis work for ten years now and director, Biddy Collyer, said: “This year’s theme is Impossible Dreams and we want to share with you our dream for the future of Pregnancy Crisis Norfolk (PCN).

“Please invite your friends, family and church members to come and enjoy an evening of celebration, worship, great speakers and cake.”

During the past year, PCN’s biggest breakthrough has been the increased number of GP training presentations it has been able to deliver and which have been favourably received.

Youth work co-ordinator, Naomi Tuma, has been working with those in the public sector to address the problem of the high teenage pregnancy rate in Norfolk.  Pregnancy Choices lessons in High Schools and a successful Romance Academy have both been an important part of the work in the past 12 months, according to Biddy.

The charity still needs more baby equipment and clothes to supply to young mums who have no money to buy them themselves.

Annual event speaker, Dr Phil Clarke, has just been appointed as director of Careconfidential, and had been involved in the field for over 25 years. He was also the main speaker at the commissioning service for PCN ten years ago.

The celebration event takes place on Thursday October 22, 7.30pm at the Bowthorpe Worship Centre, Bowthorpe Hall Road, Bowthorpe, Norwich, NR5 9AA.
