Hope into Action sets up new home in Norwich

Hope into Action logoHope into Action, a Christian charity which works in partnership with churches to house and provide support to the vulnerable, is thrilled to be opening its first house in Norwich in conjunction with Norwich Central Baptist Church.

Hope into Action presented their vision and work to various churches and organisations at the House of Prayer in Norwich in May this year.

Since then, following earlier negotiations, Norwich Central Baptist Church (NCBC) have decided to use their manse, Chapel House, as move-on accommodation for women leaving the Norwich based drug and alcohol rehabilitation centre, Hebron House, but who still require some support.

Chapel House will open in September 2012, and will be managed by Hope into Action, who will provide a Support Worker. A group of mentors from NCBC will be trained and supported by Hope into Action and Hebron House to give practical and spiritual support to the residents.

Rev Mark Fairweather Tall, Minister of NCBC, said: “We’ve had close links with Hebron House for many years and have been encouraged by the many stories we have heard about God working in the lives of those people struggling with addiction.

“As a church we want to continue to support this great Christian ministry with our resources, and our hope and prayer is that Chapel House will provide another important stage in people’s recovery and their spiritual walk with God”.

The opening of Chapel House has spearheaded the establishment of Hope into Action – Norwich, and it is hoped that this will be the first of many such partnerships in Norfolk.

A Project Leader has been appointed to facilitate this process, as already one or two other churches have expressed a strong interest in working with Hope into Action to provide further houses in the area.

Office space is currently being sought to provide a base and a local contact point, and if you are a church who may be able to offer this, even on a temporary basis, please contact Hope into Action’s local telephone numbers: 07919683105 or 07920127163 or email michele.curtis@hopeintoaction.org.uk

Prayer support is vital to this project forging ahead in Norfolk, so please do sign up to pray on a regular basis if you feel you can support this work at www.hopeintoaction.org.uk.
