Norwich curry evening kicks off Christian Aid Week

Delicious curries will be served on the evening of May 12 in Oak Grove Community Church to mark the beginning of Christian Aid Week’s focus on Bangladesh.

Chicken curry, vegetable curry, dhal and rice will be served from 7.30pm on Thursday, May 12 at Oak Grove Community Church in Catton Grove, Norwich in aid of this year's Christian Aid Week.  The meal will be accompanied by the showing of a video and a short talk about the challenges for people living on small islands in the rivers in Bangladesh. Everyone is very welcome and you can bring your own drinks.

Julian Bryant, Norfolk Coordinator for Christian Aid commented: “This will be an evening with some great food to eat and also food for thought as we look briefly at the needs of people who face floods regularly.  The cook, Russell, makes great curries and this is a great cause.

"We believe in loving ’every neighbour’ wherever they are and whoever they are. This is what Christian Aid Week is about and this evening forms just one small part of it in Norfolk.”

The entry will be by a suggested donation of £5 for adults and £2 for children although if people cannot afford that then they can simply give a smaller donation.

People must book by Monday, May 9 by emailing Julian on jbryant@christian-aid.org or calling 01603 620051.

Christian Aid Week happens every year in May. Christian Aid works in 40 different countries around the world and this would not be possible without the many volunteers who make a difference across Norfolk every year. For more information visit www.caweek.org

As part of Christian Aid Week, the charity is also appealing for volunteer collectors for street collections in Norwich City Centre on Friday, May 20 and Saturday, May 21.

Paul Nicholson from Christian Aid said: "If you would like to spend an hour or two bringing help and hope to people living in poverty around the world then please email me at pnicholson@christian-aid.org and we will give you a big welcome and full information.  Thank you for all the help that you can give."
