Blanket cover for Yarmouth Christian homeless project
2018: Great Yarmouth’s Living Room project, set up by local churches to provide a warm bed for rough sleepers, has received a gift of 30 knitted blankets.
‘The Living Room’ was set up a year ago by local churches and organisations working in partnership in order to provide a safe, warm place for Great Yarmouth’s rough sleepers during the cold winter months. It was open every Saturday night until the end of March and provided visitors with a hot meal, a place to chat with volunteers and a warm safe place for the night.
This winter, The Living Room is now open 3 nights a week at 3 different church venues, with the help of many volunteers who give in so many different ways: money, volunteering, cooking, transporting, donations of bedding, praying.
The recent gift of thirty handmade blankets from a group of knitters from Smeeth in Kent has also provided a great boost – pictured above.
