Heigham Park's National Christian cup run ends in semi-final

Heigham Park Rangers’ National Christian Trophy cup run came to an end on Saturday when they lost a semi-final 3-0 to Kay Street Baptist from Lancashire.

Rangers, who finished third in the Norfolk Christian Football League, took on Kay Street from the South Manchester & Cheshire Christian Football League in the semi-final at Recreation Road in Norwich on April 14.

Rangers manager, Dan Henery said: “After an evenly contested and scrappy first half, Kay Street hit Heigham Park with both barrels, scoring from a deflected shot shortly before doubling their lead with an unstoppable 25-yard strike.

“Heigham Park valiantly fought to get back into the game and fashioned a couple of chances but could not find a breakthrough of their own. Kay Street wrapped up the game with a third, scoring another long range effort, and ran out as deserved winners.”

In previous rounds of the Christian In Football national competition, Heigham Park had beaten Raynes Park United 2nds (SW London) 3-2 in the second round, Woodside Baptist (SE London) 1-0 in the third round and had a walkover in the quarter-final against South Ealing (Middlesex).

Heigham Park are part of St Thomas Norwich church.
