Norwich Christian GP and teacher run wellbeing seminar
A Christian couple, Dr Ike Nnene and teacher Linda Nnene, are offering a free ‘Time to Heal’ seminar, run over two Saturdays in the summer, to Norwich residents who suffer from mental ill health caused by past or current emotional trauma.
Ike and Linda Nnene are a couple who are passionate about seeing people live fulfilled and productive lives. Ike is a General Practitioner at Thorpewood Surgery and Linda works as the Head of Law and Politics at the City of Norwich School (CNS). They attend Soul Church in Norwich and are eager to use their learning, skills and experience to bring hope to others.
Part of their passion is to help people improve their mental health and well-being through emotional healing and mindset management. On Saturday, July 28 and Saturday, August 11, 10am-1pm Ike and Linda are running a free two-part seminar called ‘Time to Heal’ at Thorpewood Surgery with an invitation to Norwich residents to come along.
Ike Nnene said: “Mental health is having a big impact on the well-being of individuals, families, communities and the whole nation. A variety of approaches are available to help people deal with mental health problems. Prescribed medication is widely used to help relieve symptoms of anxiety and depression. Therapy and counselling help a lot of people.
“However there exists a significant number of people who achieve only partial improvement in their mental ill health and as consequence remain in a state of poor mental health and fragility. Longstanding mental ill health has a profound detrimental effect on the ability of an individual to achieve success and fulfilment in their personal life, career, and relationships.
”Amongst the challenges of managing mental health issues is the failure of resolution of the past traumas or unpleasant situations that precipitated the mental malady. This is motivation for the creation of the seminar, ‘Time To Heal’, where we seek to use evidence based strategies to engage a process that leads to more complete healing and restoration.”
The teaching will draw on elements of Christian faith, positive psychology, neuroscience and cognitive behavioural therapy. The programme is designed to address past issues and the unhelpful belief structures that have been created as a consequence.
Ike said: “The learning taking place has the potential to provide immense benefit to people with depression and anxiety, PTSD, victims of abuse, personality disorder and other psychological conditions. We believe that the sooner and more complete the healing process that occurs the more likely the individual is to really start taking the steps towards wholesomeness.”
The event will take place over two Saturdays and is open to residents of Norwich. There are a limited number of spaces. There is no cost to attend but attendants will need to register at https://Time-To-Heal.Eventbrite.co.uk.
In addition to running 'Time to Heal' Ike and Linda are also gospel music artistes, singer songwriters and worship leaders. They will be performing a Gospel choir concert with their Power and Beauty Band in Norwich on September. You can read more about this on Network Norfolk here.
