130 attend baby loss service at Norwich Cathedral

TimeNorfolk would like to extend a huge thank you to everyone who attended the Doorway of Hope service at Norwich Cathedral on October 17.

The pregnancy loss charity and Norwich Cathedral join together to provide the Doorway of Hope, an annual remembrance service to remember little ones lost during pregnancy and the early months of life.

“The loss of a baby is like no other bereavement. There are no memories to treasure, only lost hopes and dreams. Many men and women who have experienced this kind of loss feel they haven't had the opportunity to say goodbye, and we hope the Doorway of Hope service gives them the chance to do this,” said Lesley Bradfield, director at TimeNorfolk.

The charity were delighted to see over 130 people that evening, each given the opportunity to light a candle to remember their lost little ones.

There were readings from The Revd. Canon Andy Bryant, High Sheriff of Norfolk Lady Agnew as well as staff from TimeNorfolk plus some stunning music from the Mulbarton Choir.

“We also have to say a very special thank you to previous clients Sarah and Becky for sharing their stories with us, they are truly courageous and brave women,” added Lesley.

The loss of a baby touches so many people. Some babies are lost not long after a positive test, some were only seen at a scan, some babies were held but had to say goodbye way too soon. Some people were remembering a loss from many years ago and for some the loss is fresh and raw.

“Whatever the circumstances, we hope everyone who attended this beautiful remembrance service were able to take what they needed from it,” said Lesley.
