Video brings memories of South Norfolk churches

A group of South Norfolk churches has published an online video to keep alive the memory of the buildings until they can be visited again after the lockdown ends.

Rev Alison Ball, of the Anglican Chet Valley Benefice is in South Norfolk, said: “The Covid-19 lockdown reminds us once again that church is not about buildings but about community and fellowship. However, many of us love our church buildings and miss being able to gather in them. This video was made by the Chet Valley Benefice to help us keep their memory alive and bright until they can once more be visited.”

The Chet Valley Benefice is in South Norfolk and the churches featured are Holy Trinity, Loddon; St Margaret, Hales; St Gregory, Heckingham; St Margaret, Hardley, St Michael, Langley, St Mary, Sisland and All Saints, Chedgrave. All are medieval, though Sisland was destroyed by fire and rebuilt in Georgian times, while those at Hales, Heckingham and Hardley have round towers (and excavations have shown that Chedgrave used to have one too).
