Sheringham lighthouse cariols
Car park carol service at Sheringham church

The threat of rain and wind did not deter members of Lighthouse Community Church as they gathered in the church car park on Sunday afternoon for an open-air carol service. Tony Rothe reports.

Around sixty members of the Lighthouse fellowship were spaced at intervals around the car park to sing carols hear a brief word from Tim and Connor, two of the church’s interns this year, and to listen to a short message from the minister, Ian Savory, who reminded us that although the building was currently closed, the church was very much alive, it had simply left the building!

Christmas lights shone from the large tree and from every window in the building as the congregation sang their carols, and a prayer with battery candles rounded off the service, just as the rain started to return.

A similar event is planned for next Sunday (December 20) at 4pm, when Christingles will be given out. Because of space limitations, those wishing to come should book in advance. Please text 07757 778283. Those attending are asked to respect social distancing.

Lighthouse Live broadcasts will continue on Sunday mornings at 10.15am (except for December 27), and there will be an extra Lighthouse Live broadcast at 7pm on Christmas Eve. Find Lighthouse Community Church on YouTube.
