Christian Unity Prayer Week events across Norfolk

The annual Week of Prayer for Christian Unity 2021 takes place next week (January 18-25) including initiatives in Norwich, King’s Lynn, Long Stratton, Poringland and Watton.

Norfolk County Ecumenical Officer, Catherine Howe, said: “Across Norfolk and Waveney it has been really heartening that, despite all the current difficulties thrown up by the Covid-19 pandemic, church groups have continued to plan their online services this year or, where this is not possible, to provide resources for their groups. These include King’s Lynn, Long Stratton, Poringland, Watton to name but a few.”

There is also the annual Greater Norwich Ecumenical Chain of Prayer taking place on YouTube

This initiative has been organized for a number of years for churches in Greater Norwich whereby churches and more recently, Christian groups, gather to pray for Christian Unity - during the above week of prayer.  This has been organised Norfolk and Waveney Churches Together as an online video this year and will be available on the NWCT YouTube channel from 10am on Thursday January 21.

Contributors to the initiative include: Cathedral Ecumenical Canons – Pastor Jon Norman & Revd Julian Pursehouse; Rev Beth Powney – The Baptist Church Leader for NWCT; Bowthorpe LEP; Christian Aid; Guild of Health & St Raphael; Mothers’ Union; Norwich Salvation Army Citadel; Oakgrove Community Church; Sprowston Church; St George Colegate & Tombland; St George’s RC Church, Sprowston; St Margaret’s Drayton; St Mark’s, Lakenham; St Peter Mancroft; St Peter’s LEP Church, Jessop Road; Trinity Thorpe Marriot LEP; URC Norwich.
