Norwich event to explore sustainable futures 

Jonathon Porritt will be among speakers looking at sustainable futures at an event leading up to the COP 26 conference on Climate Change in Glasgow.

Jonathon Porritt CBE is a renowned environmental campaigner whose recent book is entitled 'Hope in Hell.'
 
“Christians interpret the world through story, poetry and art,” he writes, “requiring an imaginative approach to the Earth that works at the level of the heart. Christianity has communicated great truths in this way long before science. Ideas such as joy, kindness, self-sacrifice, simplicity, hope, obedience, awe and wonder are all universally felt and understood.”
 
Professor Tim O'Riordan will chair a panel including Haley Pinto, a psychiatrist and spokesperson for Greenpeace; Professor Nitya Rao, Director of the Norwich Research Park Institute for Sustainable Development; and Connor Bryant, circular economy entrepreneur and co-founder of Rubbish Ideas and The Rubbish Project. 
 
Together the panel will seek to answer the questions: 
 
What is enough to live sustainably? Is that consistent with human well-being? How do we get to this sustainable future? What myths and stories do we need for this new age?
 
The event will be from 4 to 5.30pm on Saturday October 23 at the Norwich School, NR1 4DD.
