Cromer BeachFest family outreach success

The series of Beachfest family outreach Wednesdays in Cromer has now drawn to a close, and organisers have hailed it a success. Tony Rothe reports.

Cromer BeachFest met each Wednesday morning during the school summer holidays providing lots of fun for local families and holidaymakers. There was a sports event in North Lodge park, a sand sculpture competition on East Beach and three mornings based in the grounds of Cromer Parish Church. There was even a beach party inside the church, complete with a mocktail bar, when the weather wasn’t good enough to be outside!
 
Each session was based on a Bible text with loads of activities, music and talks centred around the theme of the day. Jackie Austin, BeachFest co-ordinator, said “BeachFest is a missional event aiming to share the love of Jesus with those who come, so all our events are Bible based and have a range of fun art and craft activities and sporting challenges centred around our themes. It was messy, sticky, lively, challenging, silly and much more besides! A great time was had by everyone who came.”
 
This was BeachFest’s second year. The outreach event is aimed at families with children up to the age of 11 with an event during each school half term, and weekly flagship BeachFest events in the school summer holidays. 
 
The BeachFest team is drawn mainly from Cromer Parish Church but also from other local churches. The team is always happy to recruit new members, contact Jackie Austin via the Cromer church office on 01263 512000 for more information.
