SA Xmas appeal 750CF
Thousands get Salvation Army toys this Christmas

This years Salvation Army appeal has already provided gifts for over 2600 children in the Norwich area, with many more from centres across the county.

This year has seen the much-loved Toys and Tins appeal evolve into The Christmas Present Appeal. The Salvation Army in Norfolk has reviewed the way they run the appeal owing to a large increase in applications over the last few years. In order to be able to meet the need of all the applicants, this year they are concentrating on providing toy parcels or a gift token for children up to the age of 16.

Alison Gibson from Norwich Citadel Corps said “So far this year in Norwich and the surrounding area we have provided gifts for over 2600 children. As we will continue to receive referrals right up until Christmas this number will continue to increase. Other Salvation Army centres throughout Norfolk are processing their own applications locally making the overall numbers for Norfolk significantly more. We are incredibly grateful to everyone who supports us in the appeal, making a real difference to the lives of many children this Christmas.”

For more than 30 years, The Salvation Army has been transforming lives across Norfolk through The Toys & Tins Appeal and every year the organisation meets hundreds of distressed parents facing the prospect of their children having nothing to open on Christmas day. The church and charity is concerned that the cost of living crisis will mean even more families struggling to pay for the basics over Christmas. The Christmas story inspires The Salvation Army to care for people in need throughout the year and especially during the festive period.

The Salvation Army works with local agencies to reach people in need of support. Families and individuals can be referred or refer themselves to the appeal, and The Salvation Army arranges for appropriate parcels of toys or vouchers to be delivered.
