Norwich church burglar escapes jail sentence after help

A man whole stole artefacts from three Norwich churches has escaped a jail sentence after a Christian centre in Sheringham gave him support and a home.

In January, Dylan Cotgrove stole artefacts and cash from St John the Baptist on Timberhill, St George’s on Colegate and All Saints Church, reports the EDP.

After Cotgrove admitted burglary and three counts of theft, magistrates gave him 12 weeks in prison suspended for two years, and ordered him to pay compensation of £1,348.

The court was told that Cotgrove acted to get some money for himself and his pregnant partner who had been made homeless in December.

Despite his crimes, it was another Christian organization which that helped Cotgrove and his partner back to their feet. Canaan Christian Centre in Sheringham has found them accommodation and support to plan for their new baby, the court heard.
