WattonHarvest750Watton church leads on town-wide Families Matter role

St Mary's Church in Watton is holding a weekend of special harvest-themed events to supplement fundraising for the salary of a Families Matter Keyworker, a town-wide role that the church is proactively championing.

For the past two years St Mary’s Church in Watton has been raising funds to employ a full-time Families Matter Keyworker for the town.

Student Minister Michaela Sorensen from St Mary’s said: “Spearheaded by the church, this is a community based project responding to the growing needs facing families in our area.  Together with other churches, local businesses, agencies and schools, we are all so passionate about this project which will benefit the well-being of our town.  Raising the funds is a massive undertaking for the community but a great story of how community comes together in hope and action in these difficult times.”

On the harvest weekend of October 6-7 St Mary’s Church is holding a series of harvest themed events to fundraise for the full-time, three year post and to raise further awareness and participation in the town.

From 10am – 4pm on Saturday, October 6 and Sunday, October 7 the church will be open for people to drop in for refreshments, music, activities and information.

On the evening of Saturday, October 6 from 6pm-7.15pm there is an evening of fruit cocktails and canapes with a special guest appearance from award-winning soprano Emma Nuule.  Please RSVP to Rev Gerry Foster at gerryfoster@runbox.com if you would like to attend.

The harvest service will begin at 10am on Sunday, October 7 with a special adventure for families.
