Thomas takes steps to place children in families

Thomas Abbott, from the Norwich-based charity Care for Children, is walking 200,000 steps to raise money for his charity.

Thomas and his wife Rachel previously worked in Thailand and Vietnam developing the charity, which places children from orphanages in local families. They are now back in Norwich.
For the first time in his life Thomas has agreed to participate in a fitness challenge. “My personal goal is to raise US $2,000 / £1,500 by walking, running… limping over 200,000 steps this month,” he said.

So far he has done 95,000 steps and raised $635.

He is part of a collective effort with colleagues and friends of Care for Children to raise over US$ 30,000 / £ 22,000 (“although I think we can do much better than that,” he adds).

You may want to consider donating towards this effort. Thomas has bought some second-hand running shoes online (apparently they were only worn twice… so he is just hoping it wasn’t for two marathons), and he will be recording his progress using Facebook stories (you search for ‘TJ Abbott’ if you’re not already ‘friends’).

The hashtag #cfcfitnesschallenge is being used for social media by everyone participating if you want to help spread the word.

Even the smallest of donations will be of encouragement to Thomas and the team as they raise funds to support some of the world’s most vulnerable children who are living in orphanages, and ensure they have the opportunity to live in a good, local family.
