Bee SpringwoodCFInside Out art festival at Norwich church

A community festival is at St Stephen’s church until September 30, entitled 'Inside Outside', including an art exhibition and workshops.

The festival features an art display of works by local artists, open Tuesday - Saturday 10am - 3pm. There are also a number of workshops and musical activities on offer, including a pop-up gospel choir session on Saturday September 24, and Oriole singers on Friday September 30 at 1pm. Rev Ian Fifield said, "One of the key assets we can offer as church is our space and welcome and St Stephen’s church and yard have been a place of peace and worship at the centre of the hustle and bustle of City life for centuries. This why the theme for the Festival is “Inside Outside” and we are looking forward to hosting and simply “being with" a variety of local community groups and organisations as they provide free exhibitions and taster workshops both inside and outside of our church building.

"We are really pleased to be welcoming back many of the artists who contributed work to last year’s “After the Storm” exhibition but we are also building on last year by welcoming other community organisations and groups who will contribute to the five themed weeks of the Festival."

As well as opening up the building and grounds, the church was keen to link scripture to what is going on at the Festival and the artists have chosen the following verse to be the central scripture:

"God hasn’t invited us into a disorderly, grungy life but into something holy and beautiful - as beautiful on the inside as the outside.” (I Thessalonians 4:7, from The Message translation)
