John leads Norwich churches trip to Holy Land
Experienced Holy Land traveller and former CEO of YMCA Norfolk, John Drake, is leading an inter-church tour from Norwich to Israel and Palestine in March 2023, with a few places still available.
The 10-day Holy Land Encounters Tour will include visits to multiple Biblical locations including Jerusalem, Bethlehem, Jericho, Nazareth, Capernaum, Cana and the Sea of Galilee.
The tour leader is John, from Boundary Breakers, and included will be visits to Bethlehem Bible School, Jericho YMCA, British War Graves and the Yad Vashem holocaust remembrance centre.
Flights from Luton Airport to Tel Aviv, all coach travel plus half board accommodation in good quality hotels is included. There will also be daily reflections by Rev Richard James, Rector of Holy Trinity church in Norwich.
Prices are from £2,290 per person and the trip is from March 7 to 17, 2023.
John said: "I am really pleased that so far 29 people from seven Norfolk churches have signed up already. However we still have capacity for a few more.”
Churches represented include: Holy Trinity Norwich, Christ Church New Catton, Cromer Parish, Soul Church, Kings, St Stephen’s, Swardeston church, Surrey Chapel and St Francis.

John (pictured right) has a close 43-year connection to Jerusalem and the Holy Land with his Boundary Breakers travel and education project. He fell in love with Jerusalem when, in 1969, he was asked by the then Anglican Archbishop in Jerusalem to undertake “street work” in the Old City.
“I have been encouraged with a number of requests to Boundary Breakers for assistance in helping other Christian leaders structure their own Holy Land Encounters,” he said.
“In the next 12 months we have groups going from Lakenheath, Birmingham, London and Wales. All it needs is for one key leader in a community to float the idea or rise to the challenge and others will rally round and so the adventure begins."
