King’s Lynn churches unite for Good Friday walk

Good Friday saw over 100 people from churches across King’s Lynn gather for a Walk of Witness from St Faith’s in Gaywood to King’s Lynn Minster.

The sun was shining as the group set off, led by Rev Karlene Kerr, Team Vicar at St Faith’s and Moderator of Churches Together. The group stopped at various places along the way, including Highgate Methodist Church and St John’s as well as places around King’s Lynn Town Centre. Numbers grew as Christians young and old followed the cross. The walk culminated at King’s Lynn Minister, when the cross was processed in to the rousing hymn ‘Lift High the Cross’.

“The walk is a time of powerful Christian witness,” said Rev Kyla Sorensen, Team Rector at St Faith’s. “We come together from churches all over the King’s Lynn area to follow the cross, hear the story of Jesus’ crucifixion, pray and sing hymns.”

Churches Together in King’s Lynn is an active group, regularly gathering together and sharing prayer and worship and other community events. During Lent, some of the churches participated in a series of Lent talks on a theme ‘Explorations of Faith’ with over 20 attendees meeting each week for supper and a reflection.
