Friends International Staff Worker in Norwich

Evangelical mission agency Friends International is looking to appoint a Staff Worker or Apprentice Staff Worker in Norwich to partner with local evangelical churches to develop international student ministries in the city.

Friends International is an evangelical mission agency dedicated to supporting and equipping UK churches to reach international students for Christ in over 30 university towns and cities across the UK.
As a Staff Worker, you will work under the direction of the local Centre Team Leader and with a local staff and volunteer team to fulfil a vital role in partnering with local evangelical churches to develop international student ministries in the city.  The Norwich ministry has a strong emphasis on the 4,000 students studying at the University of East Anglia.
This highly strategic ministry - reaching people of different faiths and influencing future leaders - will involve mobilising, equipping and envisioning volunteers as well as creatively running events and activities for international students to take the ministry forward. Leading the weekly student café is likely to be a central responsibility.  Personal evangelism and discipleship with international students will also be a key component of the work, as you seek to provide a model for others.
You will be:

  • Educated to degree level or its equivalent
  • Teachable and adaptable
  • Passionate about cross-cultural ministry
  • A team builder with gifts of encouragement and pastoral care
  • A self-starter, able to manage time and resources
  • An active member of your local church
  • Willing to be flexible with times – ministry will include evenings and some weekend work
  • Willing to raise financial and prayer support from churches and individuals

A Staff Worker will have proven experience in international student ministry, but we will also consider applicants who are motivated to learn the role and skills of a staff worker as an Apprentice Staff Worker.

Hours: Up to full-time, dependent on degree of personal support.
Salary: £13,613 - £22,688 p.a. pro rata, dependent on skills and experience.  This salary and related expenses is raised by the staff worker through mission giving.
