Free listening skills training workshop in Norwich

He who has ears to hear, let him hear! Jim Langley will be leading an interactive listening skills workshop on June 26 at Revelation Resource Centre in Norwich.

Jim qualified as a Christian counsellor 28 years ago, whilst working within a drug and alcohol team. Later on, working within the specialism of eating disorders, he studied listening skills counselling at the UEA. Since then he has trained in various therapies, including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Mindfulness & Neuro-linguistic Progamming.  Jim also studies theology and ministry for three years, graduating from Andrew Wommacks Charis Bible College. He also worked as Ambulance Crew for three years.

Jim said, "One of the main factors in depression, mental health issues, loneliness and suicide is not having anyone to talk to. Loneliness isn't the absence of people but its having no one to listen to you - this can happen in crowds! For all our modern communications technology we are living in an age where we DON'T LISTEN anymore. Everyone has information they want to tell you but no one is listening. Listening is becoming a lost and overlooked art. As a result people are carrying their pain longer and feeling more isolated, causing further suffering."

"I've encountered people suffering in silence, not having anyone to talk to and no-one to really listen. So this training session will be interactive and the chance to learn active Listening skills. Listening is like the First Aid in Mental Health, it prevents further pain and Listening creates Healing. The Bible is full of information regarding Listening, come along and be encouraged."
