Norwich foodbank closes distribution centres
Norwich Foodbank has taken the decision to close all of its distribution centres, run from around a dozen churches in Norwich and Wymondham, from today (Monday March 30), but will still offer support to clients where it can.
The move follows government guidelines over the coronavirus situation in line with social distancing and due to the increase in people self-isolating.
Project manager Hannah Worsley said: “Due to the coronavirus all Norwich foodbank distribution centres are to be closed from Monday March 30.
“We may still be able to help people who need emergency food parcels however, so if you have a voucher or voucher code or are struggling to get one, please phone 0300 365 1123 and we will do what we can to help.”
Hannah explained that the move was taken to protect both clients and volunteers and as the best way to be able to continue providing the vital service going forward. Foodbank also has support from the Trussell Trust, which is the overall charity for foodbanks in the UK.
The foodbank is still open for donations, more details here.
