One for the RookCF
Meditative nature trail staged in S Norfolk

'One for the Rook' is a nature trail like no other open in September starting and finishing from Bergh Apton Church in South Norfolk.

The trail, which will be open to visitors over ten days in September, is a combination of the natural world and the world of the arts.

The Trail, starting and finishing in Bergh Apton Church, will provide opportunities to “Stop, Look and Listen” not only to the world around us of which we are but a part, but also to words and music - creative responses to our “neighbours” who live alongside.

The event is assisted by the renowned storyteller Hugh Lupton, the music composer, Mary Lovett, the land artist, Liz McGowan and with creative assistance and direction from Charlotte Arculus.

All this inspired by the beautiful books of Robert Macfarlane and Jackie Morris such as “Lost Words" and "Lost Spells”.

The event is a ‘trail’ of about 1 ½ miles in the countryside around the village of Bergh Apton taking about two hours. There are a dozen ‘Stop, Look & Listen’ halts, some with music and words and, to keep your wits sharp, there is a cunning puzzle to solve, with prizes.

Christopher Meynell said, "Aren’t so many of us straining at the leash to get out there and rejoin the world again?! One for the Rook has been three years in the planning and our aim is that it will work even should limited COVID restrictions be in place."

The event is organised by Bergh Apton Arts, not-for-profit Trust that has, since 1997, staged successful events such as Sculpture Trails and Plays.
